The next eleven photos are shots of the artwork that Mitchell and I whipped up in record time for the party. In keeping with the Victorian theme we established in the invite, we decided to crank out as many old-fashioned portraits as we could in the day and a half before the party. This was the first one I did, sort of as a test, a few weeks beforehand, but all the rest were whipped up the day of the party, and the afternoon before. They were drawn on brown paper wrapped around foam board, with various huge black markers. The frames are made from strips of gold poster board.
Wave pleaded with me to give him this picture before he flew back to Atlanta, so I told him to take it right before he left, and to be quick about it, so as to not draw a lot of attention to his actions and have everyone think it's open season on the goddamn pictures. It was freaking delightful to watch him run up to the wall in his black robe and top hat, rip the thing down, tuck it under his arm, and run out of the house, shouting some good-byes at people along the way. Man, Wave. We'll miss you.
